The Nagpur Metro has got big 'Boost' for building the first 'Green Metro' in the country. Mahametro has proposed to help Solar Energy related to Mahagenco. Under this, reliable sources said Metropolitan Company has agreed to set up a solar panel for the use of solar powered solar power. Metro will require 14 megawatts of electricity, of which around 65 percent of the electricity will be supplied through solar energy.

Nagpur Metro will be the first institution to use solar energy from the beginning. Mahamatro needs 14 MW power. During the day, if the metro will produce solar power through solar energy, then at least one percent of the electricity will be used for electricity at night. Under this project, solar panels required to produce solar energy will be installed on metro stations. Mahanagaram is a power plant of 180 MW capacity. For the next five years, Mahanajitram has started the move towards increasing the capacity of this project to 2 thousand 500 MW. In the meantime, a meeting of metro and metro officials was recently met in connection with the setting up of a solar panel. It was informed in the meeting that Mahanormi suggested to set up an organization to implement solar power projects. On the other hand, the Mahanadi consulting firm studied the solar energy system of the Metro Agency.

After this meeting, we are awaiting such a letter that Mahamatrokkodi will be appointed as an implementing agency. After this we will submit the tender on behalf of Mahamatro. In the next three to four months, the metro will need solar power, said the sources in the Mahagenco. According to the sources, Mahanagaritha is using the infrastructure of Nagpur Metro to create more and more solar power. Hence, Mahagenco will be able to sell more than 14 MW of power generation and electricity can be bought by Mahavitaran.

Even though Mahaprimai has given a proposal, the Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission has not yet made any decision on the petition for Maha Metro's 14 MW solar power project. On the other hand, under the Solar Rooftop Policy of MSEDCL, no organization can put solar panels over a megawatt capacity. However, the metro and many private institutions have demanded that the condition be relaxed. Specially, Mahamatro has filed a petition with MERC.
